5 Things to Do Before Taking Your Dog to the Vet
Taking your dog to the vet? 🐶 Don’t just grab the leash and leave. A little preparation can help your vet understand your dog’s symptoms better and make the vet visit easier and more effective.
1. 📹 Record the Symptoms
Take photos or videos of anything unusual—limping, coughing, vomiting, itching, or changes in behaviour.
What your dog does at home can be important for the vet to see.

2. 🍖 Note What Your Dog Ate
Write down what your dog has eaten in the last 24–48 hours, including treats, new foods, or anything unusual.
This can be especially helpful for digestive problems or suspected allergies.

3. 💊 Make a Medicine List
Note down all medicines, supplements, dewormers, and flea/tick treatments your dog is currently taking.
If possible, take photos of the medicine labels with you.
4. 📝 Track When the Problem Started
Remember:
- When did the symptoms start?
- How often are they happening?
- Are they getting better or worse?
- Any changes in eating, drinking, poop, pee, or behaviour?
A clear timeline can help your vet assess the problem.
5. 📄 Carry Previous Reports
Take your dog’s vaccination records, previous prescriptions, blood reports, and medical history if available.
These records can give your vet useful information about your dog’s health. 🐾 Remember:
